I love using my slow cooker. It’s such an easy tool that does the work for me while I’m away. This recipe for slow cooker Italian beef sandwiches is just an example of one of the many great things you can make with your slow cooker. With just a few ingredients, you can come home to delicious, tender beef sandwiches.
You can use any beef you would like. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the most tender cut, as the meet will cook down and tenderize in the slow cooker. I usually use whatever I might have in the freezer. For this recipe, I used two pounds of beef tips.
Start by placing the beef in the slow cooker. Add your Italian dressing seasoning to a cup of water and stir. Pour that mixture over the beef. I used Good Seasons Italian dressing seasoning. Next, add half of a jar of giardiniera. I used mild for this, but I do like a little kick, so hot works too!
Let this cook on low for 8 hours or more. If you would like the meet to cook faster, set the cooker to high, and cook for about 4 hours. I like to cook it on low, so it a cook all day while I’m at work.
After 8 hours, the meet should be so tender, and fall apart easily. Once the meet is cooked, set your broiler to high. Split your hoagies, butter them and place under the broiler for just a couple of minutes so the bread gets slightly crispy.
Remove from the oven and top with a generous portion of your Italian beef, and add two slices of provolone cheese. Return your slow cooker Italian beef sandwiches to the broiler, and cook until the cheese is melty. Top with Giardiniera and serve!
Slow Cooker Italian Beef Sandwiches
- 1 slow cooker
- Sheet Pan
- Measuring cup
- 2 Lbs sirloin I used tips
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1 Packet Italian dressing seasoning I use Good Seasons
- 1 Jar Giardinara
- 8 provolone slices
- Thaw beef and place in slow cooker. Add 1 cup water into a dish and mix Italian seasoning packet into it. Pour water and seasoning over beef in slow cooker. Pour 1/2 jar of giardinara into the beef.Let cook on low for 8 hours and on high for 4 hours.When you are ready to build your sandwiches, set oven broiler to high.Butter the hoagies and toast under the broiler for about 3 minutes until the bread is slightly crispy. Remove from oven, add meat and top with two slices of provolone cheese. Place under the broiler for a minute or two until the cheese is melted. Top with giardinara and serve.
