Guys. This sesame asparagus is a winning recipe. It’s so easy to make and full of flavor. It’s made with some spices and only a few ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen already. You can make this as a side dish, or it can be a meal with the bold flavors it provides. Do yourself a favor and make this delicious sesame asparagus the next time you see some quality asparagus in the store.

Start by trimming your asparagus of the woody ends, about an inch or so off the bottom. You can also snap them off, and they should break right where the asparagus gets more tender. Once trimmed, cut the remaining into 1 or 2 inch pieces. Set those aside.

To your frying pan, add a tablespoon or so of olive oil over medium high heat. Add your asparagus and cook for about 3 minutes, tossing here and there.

To a small bowl, add the soy sauce, honey, spices and sesame oil and whisk together. Pour that over your asparagus and cook for another few minutes, until the sauce starts to thicken and sticks to the asparagus. This should take around 3 minutes or so, tossing the asparagus here and there once again.

Remove from the pan and garnish with sesame seeds. Enjoy your sesame asparagus on it’s own or with your favorite protein.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Lb asparagus
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tsp ground ginger
  • 1 Tsp honey
  • Pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tsp sesame seeds
  • 3 Cloves garlic pressed

Instructions
 

  • Trim ends of asparagus and chop into one inch to two inch pieces. Set aside.
    In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, honey, spices and sesame oil.
    In a large frying pan, heat olive oil to medium high heat. Sauté asparagus for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Pour in soy sauce mixture. And stir constantly until sauce thickens and sticks to asparagus. About 2-3 minutes more.
    Remove from pan and garnish with sesame seeds.
