Parmesan Crusted Tilapia

Jump to Recipe

Sometimes all you need is an easy, cost effective meal, and tilapia filets provide that for you. At a cost of between $2 and $3 per pound, you can feed a family for under $10. And pairing it with a simple salad, you canโ€™t go wrong. I always ask my family, โ€œHave you had your greens today?โ€ Here is one way to answer โ€˜yes!โ€™

The breading on this tilapia is just flour, panko, eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, a few spices and parsley. Donโ€™t skip the parsley. It adds a freshness that you will miss if you decide not to use it. Plus, it makes your dish look fancy!

Start by dusting your tilapia with flour. In a zip top bag toss your filets in spices and flour until they are fully coated. Next, dip it in the egg, then the panko/Parmesan/ parsley mixture. You may have to add another egg if you run out.

Heat olive oil in a frying pan over low/medium heat. As soon as itโ€™s hot, fry filets, about 3 minutes per side.

While the filets cool, make your simple salad. Add Arugula to a bowl and drizzle with olive oil, a squirt of lemon juice, and some Parmesan shavings, You can also use grated parm, but I like the larger, salty bite of the shaved Parmesan.

This is an easy way to dress up a fish fillet for a delicious dinner. I subbed Mahi Mahi because that is what I had on hand. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
