Hot Honey Shrimp

I love crispy shrimp, and I love them even more when they are doused in spicy sauce. These hot honey shrimp are easy to get crispy, and the sauce is out of this world! If you like heat, you have to try this recipe. I could eat this hot honey sauce with a spoon. Be sure to make extra, because you will want to put it on everything.

Why you’ll love these spicy honey shrimp

  • These shrimp are easy to bread and fry! No messing around with eggs, crumbs and such. These shrimp are tossed in arrowroot starch. Similar to cornstarch, it gives the shrimp a perfect, light crunch.
  • If you like spice, this hot honey sauce is FIRE! You can tailer back the heat by adding fewer red pepper flakes if you so choose.
  • This recipe is packed with flavor yet quite light. It totally satisfies the craving for fried foods without the heaviness.

Here’s what you’ll need to make it

  • Frying Pan
  • Tongs – I recently purchased a kitchen tweezers and it would have been perfect for this recipe! Tongs work too, but consider getting yourself a kitchen tweezers.
  • Large Bowl – This bowl should be not only large enough to fit all the spices and oil, but the hot oil will bubble, so it should be large enough to account for the oil not to bubble over. I just use my largest glass bowl to be safe.
  • Sauce Pan
  • Candy thermometer – This recipe is temperature sensitive. If you heat the oil too much, it will burn the spices. If you don’t heat it enough, the spices will be soft and not crispy. Be sure to use the thermometer.
