FAQs about hidden veggies

Are hidden veggies healthy?

Sneaking veggies into foods has a short-term benefit—your kids will get more nutrition into their bodies at that meal. However, long term, it doesn’t teach them any valuable habits. But you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do!

What does a lack of veggies do to your body?

Without fruits and veggies, you’re more prone to digestive ailments such as constipation, hemorrhoids and diverticulosis. Fruits and vegetables contain cellulose, which increases stool weight, eases passage and reduces transit time.

What are the easiest veggies to hide in food?

The combination of pureed carrots, onions and sweet peppers hides perfectly in spaghetti sauce, soups, stews and chili. An easy-to-adapt vegetable, summer squash can be pureed to veggie-boost macaroni and cheese and contribute fiber to a kid-friendly dish.
