How to make this Hawaiian roll recipe

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Brown ground beef in a frying pan, stirring regularly. Add garlic powder, pepper and seasoned salt and stir. Set aside.

Cut your Hawaiian rolls in half the long way, making a top and a bottom bun, without separating the rolls. Top the bottom half with cheese, then the ground beef, then another layer of cheese.

Lastly, top with the other half of the Hawaiian rolls.  Brush with olive oil, butter or you can use drizzle sauce like I used. Bake for about 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted. Let cool for a few minutes, then pull those burgers apart and enjoy!

FAQs about sliders

Why are they called sliders?

Sailors in the U.S. Navy would refer to mini burgers as “sliders” because of their extreme greasiness. In just one or two bites the burger would just slide right down!

How are sliders different than hamburgers?

As opposed to hamburgers, which are made by cooking a burger patty on a griddle or grill then placing it onto a bun, sliders start with a well-oiled griddle and a ball of meat, which is smashed onto the griddle (usually accompanied by a small handful of onions, which fry into the meat as it cooks).

Why are slider burgers so popular?

Economics aside, you can’t deny that eating a delicious and artfully-crafted mini-burger is just plain fun. Ordering sliders instead of an average sized hamburger also allows you to try several different varieties of hamburgers. Because of their small size, sliders are often served in pairs.

This recipe was a huge hit with my two toddlers who typically aren’t big meat eaters. I love that it came together super quickly!

I made these for a Packers game for my family. Doubled up and used the family size package. Used cheddar cheese on one side and jalapeño peppercorn cheese on the other. I also added hamburger pickles before putting into the oven. These were a fan favorite! Even my little guy who doesn’t like new things gobbled these up! Will absolutely be making these again!
